When Mike from Dursley was with us he brought a variety of sweets with him. Wherever we went we would stop and give them
out to the Gambian children - they were well appreciated!
One of our trips involves going out to typical Gambian villages. Some of these involve a boat trip, others are by road. Through
our aid work we are well known by the villagers who welcome us and our guests cordially. They show us how they live and our guests can dress up in African costume and join in some African
dancing specially put on for them. We also get to taste the local food. Whatever happens on these village visits is usually spontaneous and interesting so we don’t need to have any fixed
or detailed itinerary. Here’s what Mike wrote:

When Mike from Berlin stayed with us Linda Cross prepared a local dish called Damada but burnt it! Normally Damada is a very
tatsy Gambian dish made from meat and a peanut sauce with rice. Mike wrote:
